"For the first time since David’s accident there is now a glimmer of hope for his future. We have Bennu to thank"

Case Management

Bennu’s positive and professional case and program managers focus on ability rather than on disability. We help clients achieve their potential by enhancing opportunities and enriching the overall quality of life to broaden each individual’s life journey.

Case and program managers support Bennu’s clients through a ‘Whatever It Takes’ (WIT) philosophy enabling clients to achieve their individual goals and aspirations.

Bennu monitors, assesses, advocates and liaises with health professionals to coordinate treatment, consults with doctors and specialists, transport, housing and other groups, as required.

A holistic, tailored approach is taken for each person, with Bennu consultants remaining fully aware of all aspects of care and of changing client needs so as to maximise quality of life opportunities.

“The tonne of reports compiled by Bennu on behalf of our much loved family member left no stone unturned. Jan’s wealth of experience has provided answers to many unanswered questions. The empathy, compassion and thoroughness of the team was both enlightening and comforting in what may otherwise have been a harrowing experience.”

“In November 1998, my son David, then 14 years of age, was involved in a serious traffic accident when he was riding his bicycle across an intersection and was hit by a car.

He suffered a fracture at the base of his skull, rotary subluxation, internal head injuries, scratches and abrasions. He spent a long period in hospital including six weeks in traction, as he had a considerable risk of spinal damage.

In the three years following his accident, David’s behaviour changed markedly and he suffered serious bouts of depression, self-harm and suicidal behaviour. It was extremely difficult to find appropriate care for David as no real facilities existed to treat acquired brain injury patients and we despaired.

In what has been a true blessing, Jan Bishop started David’s Life Pathway Program on 24 June 2002 with a team of approximately five people including carers, a clinical psychologist, senior occupational therapist and external medical support.

For the first time since David’s accident there is now a glimmer of hope for his future and we have Bennu to thank wholeheartedly. Jan’s professionalism and compassion towards David has been second to none and she is certainly the best qualified person in this state for acquired brain injury patients. Without her assistance it would be difficult to imagine a future for my son and my own sanity and survival from the stresses associated with the lack of obtaining health services for David.”
