Profile & Credentials

Jan Bishop, the Principal of Bennu International Consultancy, is known and recognised nationally and internationally for her expertise in the rehabilitation
of people with acquired brain injury, neurological degenerative conditions and rheumatological conditions. She has more than 16 years experience in rehabilitation and disability and is recognised as a pioneer in her industry.

For almost 10 years Jan managed a leading functional rehabilitation centre in Western Australia where she introduced the Barry Willer 'Whatever It Takes' (WIT) philosophy to achieve extraordinary outcomes for clients. She has overseen a ground-breaking four year project which relocated 71 young people with disability out of aged care nursing homes into age-appropriate community accommodation. This project was part of the Western Australian Young People in Nursing Home Project, a Commonwealth and State Government initiative, that has become an industry model.

Jan chairs Headwest, the State’s peak body for people with acquired head injury. She is President of the Head Injury Council of Australia; a Western Australian representative for the Australian Society for the Study of Brain Impairment; Chair of the ACROD Sub-committee of Children and Youth Interest Group, a board member of the Ethnic Disability Advocacy Group and has held several positions on State and Federal Government committees and advisory bodies. She regularly attends meetings in the ACT as part of a National Advisory Council to the Commonwealth Minister for Disabilities, on issues affecting the welfare, accommodation, employment and rehabilitation services for people with disability.

Jan Bishop has received many awards for her groundbreaking work including Rotary International’s prestigious Paul Harris Fellowship, in appreciation for the tangible and significant assistance she has given to furthering better understanding and friendly relations worldwide.

Jan has formal qualifications in Health Science, Rheumatology, Rehabilitation and Nursing and is a Clinician with the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association in Australia.
